About
Kerstin Gillespie, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, values improving her patient’s health literacy, so that they can better understand their health, communicate their concerns, and be an equal partner in taking measures to improve their quality of life. Her doctorate dissertation was centered around improving health literacy, so this area is her passion. Many patients do not have enough health knowledge to understand basic health information, which can lead to a whole host of issues. It’s her goal that her patients are well educated about their own health needs and work with her to improve their quality of life.
Though medications are often needed and important to treatments, she also believes that all modalities, such as improvements to diet, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction, need to be employed in treatment plans in order to achieve optimal improvement. She enjoys developing a relationship with her patients. She loves to hear about them as a person; their families, what they enjoy doing for fun, their hobbies, and their work. Interestingly, the more she get to know her patients, the more she knows how to help them, because she understands their priorities and lifestyle.
